Camden Crawl

Went to Camden Crawl last Friday, thanks to Hesan for arranging.  Brilliant event, good vibe, lots of venues and great line up. Used to live in Tufnell Park just up the road so good to be back in old stomping ground. Started off at the Electric Ballroom to see The Von Bondies, not bad. Then headed towards the Roundhouse to catch the Yeah Yeah Yeahs but got distracted at Inverness Street where Madness were warming up to do an outside gig on an old Route master bus - marvellous, crowd went crazy check out on YouTube. Then roamed around, nothing happening at the Barfly when I arrived so strolled up to The Dublin Castle but queue too long so went off to the Camden Palace (very famous venue, once hosting many punk bands when it was called the Music Machine and then it was taken over by Steve Strange in the 'New Romantic' era - now  called Koto). Absolutely packed out, never seen it so full - band called The Whip were on - wish I'd arrived earlier as they were great - only caught last three songs - crowd where really into them - mix of rock/dance /electro with loads of energy - certainly will check them out more. Then hung around for Echo and the Bunnymen - was a toss up between them and Wire - should have chosen Wire - Bunnymen weren't bad but a bit boring - maybe it was seeing The Whip beforehand. Anyway, all in all Camden Crawl is pretty good. The Fall played on the Saturday but I was only there for the one day. Not to be missed next year.
